Wellness

Wellness is the state of being at peace with our life – whether that’s our experiences, our culture, or ourselves; being at peace does not necessarily mean being “happy,” I think wellness is more of a general satisfaction about who you are and how your life is going.

Wellness Model:

  1. Spiritual – Spiritual wellness encompasses being happy, optimistic, calm, and/or being at peace with oneself.
  2. Physical –Physical wellness means having physical health. This means your body has the capability to do what you ask of it and/or you are in touch with your body’s physical needs. Practicing moderation would be key in physical wellness.
  3. Mental – Mental wellness is essentially competence, and being able to live your life successfully with happiness and without help.
  4. Interpersonal – Interpersonal wellness has to do with connection. This means having deep and emotional ties to other people in the world. Generally this interpersonal wellness would mean involvement in the culture around you, and feeling as if you are valued in your relationships.
  5. Intellectual – Intellectual wellness means developing your mind throughout your life, whether it is in academia or learning new skills in a job, etc.
